Während eines ein­monati­gen Stipendi­u­maufen­thaltes im August 2021 in der Lausitz bei Berlin, begann Alex Besta organ­is­che Struk­turen aus der belebten Umwelt abzu­for­men. Alex Besta über­führt diese aus­ge­hend von ihren Recherchen in die Bedeu­tungs­di­men­sion der Orna­men­tik. Von hier aus unter­sucht sie beste­hende Ord­nun­gen und Machtver­hält­nisse.
In der installa­tiv­en Gesamtkom­po­si­tion, die sich zwis­chen Starrheit, Kon­servierung und einem Aus­brechen aus den unfrei­willig gegebe­nen For­men bewegt, erheben sich die organ­is­chen Struk­turen der Borkenkäfer­lar­ven, wer­den autonom und begin­nen selb­st zu pro­duzieren, anstatt kon­serviert zu wer­den.“

Dur­ing a one-month fel­low­ship stay in August 2021 in the Lausitz region near Berlin, Alex Besta began to mold organ­ic struc­tures from the liv­ing envi­ron­ment. Based on her research, Alex Besta trans­fers these into the mean­ing dimen­sion of orna­men­ta­tion. From here she exam­ines exist­ing orders and pow­er struc­tures.
In the over­all installa­tive com­po­si­tion, which moves between rigid­i­ty, preser­va­tion, and a break­ing out of the invol­un­tar­i­ly giv­en forms, the organ­ic struc­tures of the bark bee­tle lar­vae rise up, become autonomous, and begin to pro­duce them­selves instead of being pre­served.
